About Us
How the work is organized, and what has stayed constant while it grew.

Background
Detroit CMM Calibration and Repair coordinates performance verification, repair and programming for coordinate measuring machines used by automotive stamping and tier suppliers across Michigan and the Greater Midwest. Requests are scoped against the performing laboratory's ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation before work is scheduled, whether the machine is verified on site or received at a laboratory. The distinction between calibration and performance verification is treated as more than terminology: it decides what a certificate can and cannot claim, and it shapes how out-of-tolerance findings are handled once a machine is found outside its specification.
How This Came About
The work this site coordinates sits downstream of an audit finding more often than it sits downstream of a preference. ISO 9001 clause 7.1.5.2 and IATF 16949 clause 7.1.5.3 both require a documented calibration status and a determination of whether prior inspection results were affected when a machine is found defective. That determination depends on as-found data existing in the first place, recorded before any adjustment is made.
Detroit's stamping and tier supply base runs a mix of machine ages, controller platforms and OEM-locked compensation systems, and a request is scoped against what that specific machine and controller can support before a visit is booked. Repair work — probe heads, scales, reader heads, air bearings, drives and controller retrofits — is followed by as-left verification and a re-issued certificate, not a repair invoice with no data behind it.

The Standards Behind the Work
These are the operating commitments the work is measured against.
- 01
As-found first
No adjustment is made before as-found data is recorded and available for review.
- 02
Scope before quote
The laboratory's accredited scope is checked against the request before it is accepted.
- 03
Data over adjectives
Certificates carry measurements, uncertainty and a decision rule, not a pass/fail stamp alone.
Where to Look Next
The standards, traceability arrangements and management system behind the work are set out on the quality system page.
