Performance Verification, Not a Sticker
Most work sold as CMM calibration is a performance verification against ISO 10360-2 or ASME B89.4.1, run alongside geometric adjustment and, where the controller allows it, an update to the volumetric compensation map.
As-found data is captured before any adjustment. Certificates are issued under the performing laboratory's ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation scope.

Built Around the Stamping Floor
Body and chassis parts run to GD&T callouts that depend on a CMM holding its length measurement error inside spec. PPAP dimensional layout data from a drifting machine will not survive a customer audit.
Work covers bridge, gantry and cantilever CMMs, portable arms, and the granite plates and gauge blocks that back up the fixture room.
Services
CMM calibration and repair, CMM programming, and gage calibration for the instruments handed over alongside the machine — scoped to what IATF 16949 audits actually check.

Service areas across Michigan and the Greater Midwest
Coverage runs across Detroit and the surrounding stamping and assembly corridor, with metro pages for Toledo, Flint, Jackson, Saginaw, Battle Creek and Grand Rapids.
On-site scheduling accounts for shift patterns at stamping plants and tier suppliers running multiple CMMs on staggered intervals.
Why Detroit CMM Calibration and Repair
- 01
As-found before adjustment
Results are recorded before geometric adjustment so an impact assessment is possible.
- 02
IATF 16949 scope match
Requests are checked against the performing laboratory's scope of accreditation first.
- 03
On-site or ship-in
Machines are verified in place or received at a laboratory, depending on downtime tolerance.
- 04
Repair and re-verification
Probe, scale, air bearing and drive repair are followed by as-left verification.

Common questions
How often should a CMM be calibrated?
Most stamping and tier suppliers run an annual interval, tightened for high-use machines or after a crash. IATF 16949 clause 7.1.5.3 expects a documented basis for the interval chosen.
What happens if the machine fails as-found?
As-found data is recorded before adjustment. That data supports a reverse-traceability impact assessment back to the last passing calibration, which is what a corrective action requires.
Will this satisfy my IATF 16949 auditor?
Auditors check whether the specific measurement and range appear on the laboratory's published scope of accreditation, not the accreditation itself. That scope is confirmed before a request is accepted.
